Water Storage Containers

There are many different types of water storage containers.  There are pros & cons to each:  things like initial cost, size, availability and transportability.  The containers listed in the comparison table below are not the only containers available, but do represent what is available.

When considering what types of containers to use, keep in mind the amount of space you have, where it will be stored (try to keep out of light and heat--but if needs be in one or both rotate your water more often), and how easily you want to be able to move/rotate your water storage if/when you need to.  Also, remember to store smaller containers for your 72 hour kits.

Please note:  many of the water storage containers & the prices for such are those available at these stores:  Emergency Essentials and Sam's Club.  Some of the containers are available at any local grocery store.
The images come from the respected sites that the containers are from (the pop bottle image is from providentliving.org).  (To print:  click on image, select print, change page orientation and print page 1 at 110%)
